Jake Latham, 2011 DSR Sportsman of the Year, recently sold his Stohr DSR Race Car to a buyer in Sydney, Australia. The car was purchased in 2008 and later helped Jake take 3rd place in the 2011 National Championship Runoffs in Wisconsin. Needless to say, the car is very special to Jake and his race team, so it was a tough decision to sell it, especially to a buyer so far away.
The car’s buyer, Adam Proctor, had purchased a similar car before and used Craters & Freighters of Atlanta to help him ship it to Australia. The previously purchased car arrived to Mr. Proctor without any damages and he knew Craters & Freighters of Denver would offer the same expert packaging, crating and shipping expertise. Having been in the specialty freight industry for over 20 years now, Craters & Freighters has experience in shipping just about anything out-of-the-ordinary, and an 800 lb. race car was no problem!
On Friday January 13th, Jake and his team arrived at the Denver location with the race car inside a covered trailer. The car was slowly rolled out of the back of trailer onto a custom fitted wood base deck that had been previously constructed. The car was then carefully blocked, braced, and banded securely so it could picked-up safely by a forklift and lifted inside of Craters & Freighters’ warehouse.
The staff then went to work building a custom wood crate to fit around the race car. The finished crate measuring approximately 170”x82”x60” will be traveling by ocean freight to Sydney, Australia and is expected to arrive in early March.
Thanks to Jake Latham and his crew for letting us document and film the crating and shipping of his famed race car! We wish Jake the best of luck and lots of wins in the 2012 Racing Season! Read all about Jake Latham and his racing adventures on his blog: (http://www.jakelatham.com/):

Moving On...
All good things come to an end it, and such it would seem with this Stohr DSR. After a final few winter fixes and cleanups, it will be headed down to Australia to compete. In just a few weeks time, it will be dropped off for crating, and from there down below the equator.
To the new owner, I hope you enjoy this car as much as I have.
